Tonight we tracked vocals to three of our new tunes! Tomorrow we're adding a couple more vocal tracks and a forgotten guitar solo, and then all of the tracking is done! Yippee!!
We also confirmed as a guest on Chic-A-Go-Go, Chicago's hottest all ages dance sensation television show!
Come dance away at the taping with us! We're filming this Sunday, January 3rd from 3-6pm at the Can TV studios (322 S Green Street). It's absolutely free, children are welcome, and silly costumes are encouraged!!

December 27th, we're heading into Horse-Drawn Productions to record four brand new songs! You may have seen some of them live, but soon you will be able to rock out to us at home!
In other news, we're in talks to do a music video for My Head Is a Bomb... Details on that to follow, but it's shaping up to be really cool.
Also, don't forget that we're playing Miss Mia's Covers for Cover II on Wednesday, December 23rd. We'll be the Bowienauts! Details and tickets are available here.

Winter plans!
So originally, we were planning to take the holiday season off to recoup from a whirlwind year, write a few new tunes, and hop into the studio to record some of the new tracks like Girlfight and You Are Here and maybe even a little holiday surprise for you folks!
Well, that was until Miss Mia (of Chic-A-Go-Go fame) announced Covers for Cover II.
For those of you who have followed us since the beginning, you may remember the first glimmer of Maybenautism when we performed as Rah! Rah! Replica for Miss Mia's original Covers for Cover event. Headlining as a one-off Bikini Kill tribute band, we played to a packed house (sans Vee and + Emily's brother Mike on guitar).
Well, Mia's doing it again! The Maybenauts will be playing Covers for Cover II as...
wait for it...
wait for it...
DAVID BOWIE!
Covers for Cover II will be at the absolutely gorgeous brand-new venue Lincoln Hall (which used to be the historic 3 Penny Theater) on Wednesday, December 23rd. Advanced tickets are available here.

Leilani has 20 Answers of her own!
Leilani followed Vee's lead and answered her own version of the 20 most common after-show questions:
1. Yeah, but you know her as "Ellie", she re-invented herself, again.
2. Yeah, he IS good
3. Awesome, but I'm married
4. Yes, we intentionally match
5. I did try out, they told me "thanks, but it's a no for us."
6. I know, but I AM hispanic
7. Yes, my eyes ARE blue, I'm still hispanic
8. We just like sugar, a lot
9. For a girl?
10. No that's okay, I can carry it.
11. I don't know, ask Vee
12. A little more vocals in the monitor.
13. That sucks, cuz the lyrics are pretty funny.
14. I don't know, it's Vee's
15. NO! Please don't touch the guitar!
16. No, I don't like shots. Nothing! I DON'T LIKE SHOTS!
17. Yeah, that WAS me on Check Please. (sigh)
18. She went home, she has to work in the morning.
19. Yeah, and a website, and Facebook, and Twitter, and You Tube, and....
20. Soon, we hope.
P.S.
Leilani - just tell them you drink Jameson and hand it off to me!

New Maybenauts videos - including a new song!
These are from our last show at Lucky Number and filmed by Lenny Jimenez - thanks Lenny!
This is You're Not Aware, an original that will be on our upcoming EP:
This is our 80s girl group medley trainwreck followed up by our original, Girlfight. If you're curious, it goes: She Bop (Cindy Lauper) - We Got the Beat (The Go-Go's) - Walk Like an Egyptian (The Bangles) - I Want Candy (Bow Wow Wow) - Girlfight (The Maybenauts). Holy wow! This psychotic medley has been retired for now... so enjoy it on video!
And last but certainly not least, it's our brand new song, Blue Line. We wrote this one about three weeks ago and this is the first time we'd ever performed it live:

Whattaweek: Website / Girlfight / Double Door Thursday Night
So we're all battling crazy schedules and inadequate sleep cycles to get together and make the rock, but it's definitely worth it.
I'm just back from a fantastic rehearsal with the girls (and Vee!), as always feeling energized and exhausted at the same time...
Last night, I couldn't sleep so I overhauled our website. You like?
Tonight, we hammered out the kinks of our newest tune, Girlfight. This one's a rocker, kids; it hurts! We plan to debut it on Thursday at Double Door...
Speaking of Double Door, we're playing at Double Door on Thursday. At 9pm. We're first, at 9pm. On Thursday. At Double Door. We're playing before Todd Kessler and Calvin Marty & The Sunken Ship. At Double Door. On Thursday. We go on first at 9.
Cover's $10, but you can save yourself $2 by downloading and printing out our handbill (plus a few extra for the friends you probably want to bring because, you know, you love us).
Hope we see you there!!

Holy Crap, That Was Awesome.
The Maybenauts are all busy recuperating from the most unbelievable weekend ever. We kicked off our Easter/Passover celebration early with a show in Chicago at Quenchers on April 9, and then hit the road to visit our northern neighbors with a show in Madison at Inferno on the 10th. The show was a blast, with Madison locals The Type. Shhhhh... There have been talks of a split 7" with The Maybenauts and the Type!!
After our wonderful show we settled in with our hosts, Travis Kasperbauer and Jane Wiedlin, and went to task tracking five glorious tunes. Travis worked his magic at the control board while Jane helped produce some unbelievable vocals.
We hope to have some rough mixes in the next week and start working on finalizing the recordings and some cover art... When will the new EP be available??? Oh, soon, little children, soon...

Ready, set... GO!
It's booked! In April we will be heading to the lovely town of Madison, Wisconsin to record with the awesome production team of Travis Kasperbauer and Jane Wiedlin. We'll be laying down some of the new songs you've been hearing at shows for the past few months, in preparation for the release of our debut EP as The Maybenauts. We'll also be playing a show while we're out there - we'll keep you posted on the details.
Until then, we just announced a handful of new shows that are coming up (including a visit to our neighbors in Indiana). Check 'em out and check us out! We promise you a good time, baby. ;)

3... 2... 1... Launch!
Welcome to The Maybenauts' official blog! I'm Ellie Maybe, bassist for The Maybenauts. As I watch the Inaugural Parade on television I sit here trying to summon the narcissism necessary to write an introduction to our band on a day as important as this. I think I can do it.
As our fans know, we have recently undergone a band-wide makeover. We have changed our line-up (adding the loverly Emily Agustin on drums), changed our name, and are in the process of of solidifying our new sound. Along with these changes comes a blank slate in the world of social applications, so if you're a longtime friend or fan of The Maybenauts, Ellie Maybe, or this band in any incarnation, please take a second and add us as a friend on MySpace or become a fan on Facebook.
Outside of rebuilding our web presence with a new identity, we are hard at work writing new songs for your giggling and rocking pleasure. Catch a few of these new tunes on Friday, January 30th @ Martyrs'.
Until then, sign up for our mailing list at www.maybenauts.com or bookmark the new site to keep up-to-date on the new happenings with The Maybenauts!
